Waverley 3K, BBQ, AGM and Summer Presentations

It was great to see many of you today for the Waverley 3K, BBQ, AGM and Summer Presentations.

Well done to our 3K runners, and thanks to Sally for recording. This was really just a hit out before Jells Park rather than a race, but our results were:
11:30 James Atkinson
11:31 Martin Spiteri
12:09 Daniel Spiteri
13:52 Nick Spiteri
13:57 Ernie Lim
15:07 Emily Stokes
15:14 Janice Marston
15:29 Wendy Masters
16:25 Helen Anderson
17:20 Petra Spiteri

Thanks to Jay for cooking the bbq and Petra and Simone for contributing salads and desserts.

Janice did a great report summarising the year, and Simone presented that the club is in healthy financial shape thanks to some extra Bunnings fundraisers last year, which we’ll be keen to do again. So no increase to fees this year, which is good news and the club was able to purchased an impressive outdoor light to help with our evening training sessions. The Committee have all put their hands up to do it all again this year – thank you, and Simone will help Yvonne taking on some of the Secretarial duties.

Then we had the Summer Presentations:
Well done:
- Linda Buttigieg best female points and best female Jumper
- Helen Anderson best female Sprinter and most female PB’s
- Christine Bridle best female Thrower
- Terry Baldwin best male and overall points, best male Sprinter and Jumper and most PB’s
- Craig Sanford – best male Distance athlete
- Shane Carstairs – best male Thrower
- Hridhika Thadani – best Junior and 1st Year Athlete
- Daniel Spiteri – Most Improved Encouragement award
- Martin Spiteri – President’s Trophy
- Simone Albiston – Best Club Person
- Matt Harvey – Riggy Bear Award – for taking on the 3 toughest events in the last round at 2 venues on a very hot day. In his last event the 3, unfortunately Riggy Bear jumped on his back for the whole distance, and he’ll have to wait another year to beat Dad’s time in that event. Well done Matt.

A big thank you to our amazing summer team who did well all year, but then put in a super human effort in the last round to avoid relegation and keep us in Div 3. I think Corio are still in therapy. You are all champions.
