We woke up to a crisp morning in Melbourne, but by the time we arrived in Ballarat most of the frost had thawed and the sun was shining. Where was the wind? The clouds? The grumpy AV staff members? None of these were evident today. The sunshine lifted the mood of the whole event.

We were pleased to see Simone finishing strongly in the 6km event as we waited for the gun.

I’ll leave it to you to do the stats but I was impressed to see that Lisa Weightman winning the women’s race after I made a comment that ‘at least the Olympians will all be at the Olympics!’

Michael Jackson joined Waverley when Wendy decided to run while wearing one glove. Apparently, it has a number of uses, but I won’t tell you what exactly!

It was disappointing to have no Jameses in attendance and I missed you running the last couple of kilometres with me.

It was great to see Simone on the sideline cheering us on and the team of drink handerouterers were extremely enthusiastic. Petra had to take a drink to make them happy, even though everyone agrees that it’s hard to drink and run.

Many of us went off to the same café as last year, organised exceptionally well by Em. It was great to see her back from her travels, although nursing an injury, she still managed to run 12km.

Well, that’s all that I saw, but I was pretty late to the after race party so there are probably a lot more things to tell you that I missed completely!

I hope you are having a fantastic time at the snow!

Cheers

Jackie Mitchell
